Lady Gaga - Paparazzi

The video starts off with shots of palm trees and flowers. This is a reference to sunset blvd. This video can be considered as a post modernist music video as there are many techniques that are used in which can contribute towards this theory. The music video starts off with a series of shots of scenery but what is noticeable is that there is no music playing which isn't conventional as most music videos start off with music playing.
The sequence links to Pastiche/Homage as it is similar to a classic Hollywood movie title sequence. This is seen through the use of the style of the font used. This is also unconventional as a music video shouldn't have a movie like title sequence. Although there are many Post modernist features in this music video there are still conventional features as well as in one of the scenes Lady Gaga is surrounded by people who are dancing behind her which is a typical conventional performance in music videos.
There is also another feature of pastiche/Homage of the Movie Vertigo directed by Alfred Hitchcock where the techniques are similar. The blurring of boundaries between humans and robots this is also called binary opposites which is present as Lady Gaga is seen coming out of a limo onto a purple coloured carpet (Which is also Unconventional as celebrities are seen walking on red carpets) Moving as a like she is crippled and finding it hard to move. In this music video there is also a lot of presence of death as there is a string of pictures of dead people in homicidal positions. This is unconventional as the music video doesn't have any relevance to death via the lyrics and style of the video.
Lady Gaga at the end of the music video is dressed in what seems to be a mini mouse costume which could be seen as Intertextuality/Referencing to a popular culture . Lady Gaga's dress sense subverts from typical conventions of musical artists within her genre.
