Marxisim
Karl Marx, the founder of the Marxist theory, believed that the media and it's messages could be used for good in the right hands. However, in the hands of what he called the dominant ideaology the message could have a dangerously influential and controlling effect on the masses.
Sexual Objectification and the Male Gaze
Prescence of women solely for the purpose of display, rather than for narrative function.
The female on display is passive and objectified for the 'male gaze' regardless of viewers gender.
Women connoting promiscuity and lust.
Voyeuristic treatment of the female body in 'male' videos, and the use of dancers as adornments to the male ego.
The inclusion of women for display is a staple element in music videos across all genres.
Voyeurism: Erotic pleasures gained from looking at a sexual object who is unaware of being watched.

Post Feminism
Third-wave feminism seeks to challenge or avoid what it deems the second wave's "essentialist" definitions of femininity, which often assumed a universal female identity and over-emphasized experiences of upper-middle-class white women. A post-structuralist interpretation of gender and sexuality is central to third wave ideology. Emphasizing discursive power and the ambiguity of gender, third-wave theory usually incorporates elements of queer theory; anti-racism and women-of-color consciousness; womanism; post-colonial theory; critical theory; postmodernism; transnationalism; ecofeminism; libertarian feminism; new feminist theory, transgender politics and a rejection of the gender binary.
Feminism
Feminism is controversial for challenging traditions in many fields and especially for supporting shifting the political balance toward women. Some feminists argue that men cause and benefit from sexism; while others argue that all people are harmed by gender roles and therefore that feminism is for women and men. Feminists are persons of either sex, or females only (in which case males may be profeminists), who believe in feminism. Feminist activists have campaigned for women's rights such as in contract, property, and voting while also promoting women's rights to bodily integrity and autonomy and reproductive rights. They have opposed domestic violence, sexual harassment, and sexual assault.
In the media women believe the way they are portrayed in modern day music vidoe's depicts them and have tried to argue against this as it sometimes gives the audience viewing the music video a representation about women as a whole based and judged on this video. Which isnt a fair representation.

Feedback
Well done for adding four detailed examples of textual analysis. However, you must have a total of 5 minimum so please complete for e.g. the Tupac track. In addition, you must now start to upload all other evidence of research and planning work i.e. notes on theoretical perspectives such as feminism / post feminism and marxism. Furthermore, you should add details of the chosen track, genre etc. and your initial production ideas along with evidence of storyboarding.

Textual Analysis Of Snoop Dogg - Sensual Seduction
Snoop Dogg's video sensual seduction is a performance based video featuring an 80’s style theme with a post feminist representation of women dressed as dominatrix’s of every kind from police women to stereotypical woman in full PVC outfits , covered from head to toe in tight plastic or leather. The narrative is about a male character who is sexually active and has sexual fantasies.
Men are represented as stereotypically being more dominant than women as Snoop Dogg is standing over the women serenading what he wants to do to her as well as being filmed surrounded by women in a high-angle shot which emphasises his dominance over the opposite sex. He sings ‘all that we ever do is play in the sheets’ portraying that women are seen as sex objects or ‘sexual freaks’ as he refers to them in his lyrics -in revealing clothes and positioned in suggestive positions which are a conventional representation of women according to the hip-hop genre.
Women in the video aren’t seen as respectable or pure they resemble prostitutes confirming they way women are seen in the world of hip-hop and rap but subverts the realistic image of women in society nowa days.
The video is a performance based video about the ways in which the lead singer (Snoop Dogg) pleasures women as his lyrics state ‘she gone get hers before I get mine’ showing a close-up of his mouth which is a sexual innuendo (referencing oral sex), he explains how he seduces women as he states ‘she might be with him but she’s thinking of me’ and glorifies the stereotype of black males being womanisers he references himself as a ‘playa’.
The mise-en –scene of the star graphics also highlight his sexual abilities to symbolically takes women ‘to the stars in bed’ at the same time, he celebrates his masculinity whilst he poses with the women in the stars as they caress and stroke indicating that his methods of ‘seduction’ are effective, ultimately making reference to the stereotype black men are ‘good’ in bed and can pleasure women in ways men of other cultures cannot.

Textual Analysis Of Tupac - Do For Love
Tupac Amaru Shakur (June 16, 1971 – September 13, 1996), known by his stage names 2Pac (or simply Pac) and Makaveli, was an American rapper. Shakur has sold over 75 million albums worldwide. Making him one of the most renowned artists ever.
This video is by Tupac - Do For Love
This song is about how love can make a person do crazy things.
This video subverts from a conventional music video by being cartoon based instead of reality. This can help express the meanings of this song by using things that couldn't be gathered or shown by using reality to portray it.
The lyrics of the song are generic to R&B and Hip-Hop as they are about love between a man and a woman and how things happen and change the relationship the two people are having and cause problems.
This video is narrative based and shows what happens through the course of the 2 peoples relationship. There are scenes in this video where the women are dressed quite provocatively but this could either be the 'make gaze' or that just because its in LA most girls dress like that due to style fashion and or because it is hot.
The song symbolises an on and off relationship and and entices the audience with a series of scenarios that can be related with someone (possibly) in the audience making it a successful song as most R&B/Hip-hop music videos/songs aim to relate with their target audience.
Textual Analysis Of Nicki Minaj - Your Love
This video is a narrative based music video with a martial arts theme. The first scene of the music video shows red drapes blown by a wind for effect leading on to show Nicki Minaj (the artist) stand infront of more red drapes. The use red in the drapes can be a representation of seductiveness and lust aimed towards the artist she is also dressed slightly provocatively. When the artist is preforming she is by herself this can be seen as conventional because the lead or only artist is dominant within the scene in which she/he is preforming. It is clear what the narrative is about which is a fight between two women over a mans heart portrayed through the theme of samurai's. Throughout the video the two women are trying vigorously to please the man. this isn't as conventional like most modern videos because they are mostly set in this time period not over 400 years ago. The videos theme is reinforced by a famous actor known for his martial art skills. This can be considered as a post-modernist video as the narrative theme is unconventional to a modern music video with a narrative base. The video portrays Love and Hate In contrast to each other and the feud between the two women who both want the same thing. The death at the end of the video is to show how great the love for the samurai was. This Video has a strong narrative base and is very clear to understand and I believe it is a successful post-modernist video as its story line is generic but how it was portrayed through the use of a martial arts theme is. It keeps the audience entertained.

Lady Gaga - Paparazzi
The video starts off with shots of palm trees and flowers. This is a reference to sunset blvd. This video can be considered as a post modernist music video as there are many techniques that are used in which can contribute towards this theory. The music video starts off with a series of shots of scenery but what is noticeable is that there is no music playing which isn't conventional as most music videos start off with music playing.
The sequence links to Pastiche/Homage as it is similar to a classic Hollywood movie title sequence. This is seen through the use of the style of the font used. This is also unconventional as a music video shouldn't have a movie like title sequence. Although there are many Post modernist features in this music video there are still conventional features as well as in one of the scenes Lady Gaga is surrounded by people who are dancing behind her which is a typical conventional performance in music videos.
There is also another feature of pastiche/Homage of the Movie Vertigo directed by Alfred Hitchcock where the techniques are similar. The blurring of boundaries between humans and robots this is also called binary opposites which is present as Lady Gaga is seen coming out of a limo onto a purple coloured carpet (Which is also Unconventional as celebrities are seen walking on red carpets) Moving as a like she is crippled and finding it hard to move. In this music video there is also a lot of presence of death as there is a string of pictures of dead people in homicidal positions. This is unconventional as the music video doesn't have any relevance to death via the lyrics and style of the video.
Lady Gaga at the end of the music video is dressed in what seems to be a mini mouse costume which could be seen as Intertextuality/Referencing to a popular culture . Lady Gaga's dress sense subverts from typical conventions of musical artists within her genre.
